My interests are focused on the study of signal transduction pathways in cancer and neurodegenerative disease. During my PhD studies and post-doc, in the laboratory headed by Prof. Daniela Barilà, I acquired a large experience on signal transduction induced by ATM kinase, a central player in DNA damage response and in maintenance of genomic stability. I contributed to characterize new roles of ATM kinase in cell death signaling pathway, in hypoxia pathway and in ubiquitin dependent pathway. Moreover in collaboration with the laboratory of Dr. Flavio Maina (IBDML, Marseille, France) I investigated the molecular mechanism involved in aberrant Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (RTKs) induced signal transduction during tumor development. From 2013 I gained my research independence at Fondazione S.Lucia in Rome supported by two grant from Italian Ministry of Health, on the role of non-canonical ATM kinase functions in breast cancer progression. From 2019 I have started my own research group at IBPM.  I’m currently investigated signal transduction pathways involved in cancer stem cell maintenance (3D culture model systems), in cancer therapies resistance and in neurodegenerative disease.
