My main research interests are focused on the following subjects: - TELOMERES: my research in this field is focused on telomere maintenance mechanisms and their impact in relevant physiological and pathological processes. I am also interested in understanding how telomeres and chromatin are organized inside the nucleus. - NUCLEAR ENVELOPE: I am interested in studying the cellular processes needed to ensure nuclear envelope integrity and in understanding how this relates with genome organization and stability, in physiological and pathological processes (mainly aging and cancer). - AGING: my research in this field is aimed at the elucidation of molecular and cellular processes involved in physiological aging and premature aging syndromes. - VIRAL VECTORS: These are powerful tools to be used and characterized for gene therapy purposes and for reverse genetics studies. - ADVANCED MICROSCOPY TECHNIQUES: I am interest in the technology and in its innovation for its use in studying cellular complexes and their involvement in essential biological processes. |
