My scientific activity is focused on the structural and functional characterization of proteins involved in biological processes crucial for the development of cancer and those involved in the biosynthesis of antibiotics endowed with potential biotechnological applications. I also study how to engineer proteins to produce smart nano-vehicles for selective drug delivery for nanomedicine application. The goal of my research is identifying potential drug targets, drug makers and drug delivery proteins and defining their biomolecular profile to understand how they work and how to control their functions, using a transversal and multidisciplinary approach encompassing molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology and bioinformatics.
